Amy Kennedy I’m a writer and educator based in New Orleans focusing on extractive industries and the climate crises in Louisiana and the Gulf South. My work explores the surreal spaces where heavy industry and ecology interact, and the ecological grief and anxiety experienced in our daily lives. Watching my two young children discover the beautiful and disappearing landscape of Southeast Louisiana inspires my current writing projects.
A Long New Thread is a space to curate the most disruptive and inspiring research I come across, amplify opportunities to engage in climate crisis work, explore more effective communication about ecological issues, and reflect on the complex and overwhelming emotions environmental breakdown evokes. I hope this space encourages people to dig deeper into their own thoughts about the climate crisis—and to have those thoughts more often.
My first book Vanishing Points: Words for Disappearing will be out in the fall through Antenna Press.
